Because of a downpour the night before, this year's fly-in got off to a rough start. The runway was so wet, the Dawn Patrol was delayed and eventually cancelled. The thought was to not tear up the runway more than necessary before all of the guest planes arrived.
The good news: it turned out to be a beautiful day! A team effort made the fly-in a success despite the wet conditions earlier.

As always, the Vera Volunteer Fire Dept was on hand. If we ever need a crash crew or medical assistance, we'll be happy to have them nearby.
The duty runway was 36; so the south end did get a little rutted with all of the landings and takeoffs. Kudos to Brian who I saw out rolling it the next day!
The flight of two from Avian created some buzz when they roared down the runway at about 25 feet.
In total, about 28 aircraft showed for this year's event. Not as many as previous years, but the rain impacted other airports with grass runways as well as Skyhaven. Of course, the helicopter is always a fan favorite.

A little bit of a hush fell over the crowd when this guy made a pretty hard landing! Fortunately, nothing hurt too bad except for his ego. There were likely a few bruises the next day!
Finally, all of the kids love the candy drop!
Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's event memorable!
